There are several ways to determine the appropriate belt size to order.
The best way is to measure a belt that fits well: Measure from the hole the belt is usually worn in to the point of where the belt fold is – this measurement is the belt size. See diagram below.
Or, you may take your pant size and add 2" – a 36" pant will wear a 38" belt.
Or, you may measure your waist (or your hips if that is where you will wear your belt) and add 2 inches – a 28” waist will wear a 30" belt.
